Odion Ighalo set for Manchester United exit

Odion Ighalo was not included in the Manchester United matchday squad for their embarrassing home defeat to Tottenham Hotspurs on Sunday. Ighalo who started in the Manchester United league cup win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday was not picked by Solskjaer for the second visit of Jose Mourinho.

The former Nigerian international is struggling to recapture the form that saw become crowd favorite after scoring five goals in four starts a few weeks after arriving at the club last season.

Odion Ighalo who was also missing from the matchday squad at Brighton last weekend is behind Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood in the pecking order and some reports claimed Solskjaer could allow him to leave when his loan deal expires in December.

In his absence, Manchester United suffered their joint-worst defeat in the English Premier League, as they were battered 6-1 at the Theater of Dreams.

Manchester United started the game brightly with Bruno Fernandes scoring a penalty inside two minutes but the lead was short-lived as the visitors hit back immediately, with a goal from Tanguy Ndombele, and from that point, it became all Tottenham affair.

South Korean forward Heung-Min Son who passed a late fitness test to feature in the game made it 2-1 three minutes later.

Manchester United were reduced to men when Anthony Martial was sent off in the 28th minute and Spurs makes the extra man advantage count as Harry Kane and Son got on the scoresheet to make it 4-1, before the half time break.

Serge Aurier and Harry Kane netted two other goals in the second half to hand Manchester United their joint worse home defeat, since losing 6 – 1 to Manchester City in 2011.
