Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will work under Italian tactician Luciano Spalletti at Napoli next season.

Spalletti was appointed as the new head coach for Napoli after Gennaro Gattuso left the position to take up Fiorentina coaching role.

The Azzurri who themselves failed to qualify for UEFA Champions League next season have now decided to replace the former Italian international with much experienced Spalletti.

Napoli’s President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed the appointment of the former Inter Milan and AS Roma boss via his Twitter handle this Saturday.

“I am pleased to announce that Luciano Spalletti will the new Napoli coach starting from July 1st. welcome  Luciano, together we will do a great job.” Aurelio De Laurentiis wrote.

Osimhen who scored ten Serie A goals in his debut season under Gattuso last season, is expected to be one of the key players for Spalletti next season.

Although Napoli will be playing in the Europa League next season, their aims remain challenging for the Italian Serie A title and also for a place in the UEFA Champions League.
