Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi was in good form as he netted another goal for Union Berlin in the UEFA Conference League clash with Feyenoord on Thursday.

Although the game ended 3-1 against Taiwo Awoniyi’s side, but the former Liverpool player gave a very good account of himself at de Kuip.

Union Berlin started the game on a back foot, and the home side took full advantage – scoring two goals in the opening half-hour. Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Bryan Linssen were the goalscorers for Feyenoord.

Awoniyi stepped up and reduced the deficit in the 35th minute when he converted a pass from Christopher Trimmel. The goal was Awoniyi’s tenth for the club in the current season.

However, a goal from Luis Sinisterra on the 76th minute put the game beyond Awoniyi and his teammates.

Meanwhile one-capped Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers came on as a second-half substitute for Feyenoord.

The defeat leaves the Germans at the bottom of the table with just three points, from three matches.
