Awoniyi has been impressive for Union Berlin in recent – scoring eight goals for the Club in all competitions, before last night.
He scored in last Thursday’s UEFA Conference League game against Feyenoord. He followed it up with another strike against FC Koln over the weekend.
However, he started Wednesday’s game from the bench and was introduced for Sheraldo Becker in the 72nd minute of the encounter.
The goal was his first in the DFB Pokal cup this season, and he now has two goals involvement in the tournament, following his assist in previous match.
Meanwhile, Alexander Rossipal Wannheim the lead 4 minutes into the game, but Kevin Behrens equalised for Union Berlin in the 12 minute later.
The game went into extra-time after both teams failed to find the winning goal.
Awoniyi’s first and Behrens second goal of the game two minutes from time gave the Bundesliga side a deserved victory.
