Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has downplayed the severity of his injury and will return to action in a few weeks.

Some section of the media reported that the 22-year-old could miss the 2022 FIFA African Cup of Nations, after getting injured during Sparta Rotterdam’s game against Ajax last weekend.

Okoye was substituted in the first half of the game, after picking up a shoulder injury.

However, the Watford new signing dismissed the reports and stated that he could return to action against AZ Alkmaar this weekend.

However, the Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has just informed us that his shoulder injury is not that bad. The keeper expects to be able to play against AZ again next Sunday. Okoye had to be sidelined against Ajax with pain,” Dutch online news hub Rijnmond Sport tweeted.
