Kelechi Iheanacho said he was delighted to start alongside Jamie Vardy in the PL game for Leicester City against Burnley on Wednesday.

Iheanacho has been back up to Jamie Vardy, but he was handed rare opportunity to start up front with the club legend at Turf Moor.

The Nigerian grabbed his chance and scored a first-time volley to secure a point for the Foxes after a disappointing home loss to Arsenal last Sunday.

It was Iheanacho’s sixth of the season in all competitions.

Speaking to Leicester City’s official website on partnering Vardy for the game, Iheanacho explained that it was the tactical run of the English forward that created a space for him to score the goal.

“We’re talking about the little run from Jamie [Vardy] and the pass from Wilf [Ndidi] – that was the goal for me,” explained Iheanacho. “So, it was a great goal,” He said.

The 24-year-old also added that he can play flourish with Vardy in the same starting 11.

“Playing with Jamie, I like playing with him. He’s a runner, if you have a great runner in the team, we know we have to find him, and give him good front passes for him to finish up. I like partnering with Jamie. It’s good.” he concluded.
