Nigeria defender Ola Aina has declared that the Super Eagles won’t underrate Benin Republic when both side clash in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game this Saturday.

Aina said the three times African champions have learnt from their shocking results against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.

It would be recalled that the Super Eagles bottled a four-goal lead and allowed the minnows draw level in Benin City, before playing a goalless draw in Freetown, last November.

Aina admits that two results against Sierra Leone were strange, but the team is determined to make up for the mistakes against the Squirrels this Saturday.

“As strange as it sounds, I believe everyone’s moved on from that Sierra Leone game but the lessons learned stays with us,” he told BBC Sport Africa.

“We travel to Benin with all seriousness, we’ll go there and try to win the game before hosting Lesotho at home.”

The Super Eagles will seal qualifications for the tournament should they avoid defeat against Benin Republic.

Nigeria currently sits on top of Group L with eight points, one more than their hosts and five ahead of Sierra Leone.
