Paul Onuachu took his goal tally to 32 in 37 matches for Genk this season when in scored in 3-2 away win against Royal Antwerp in their first game of the Belgian Championship play-off at Bosuil Stadion on Friday night.

The Nigerian international who has been linked with a potential move in the summer scored on 73 minutes to make it 2-2 for his side.

He becomes only the second player to reach 30 goals in a Belgian Jupiler League season in the 21st century after Wesley Sonck in 2001-02 and also the forest Nigeria to hit 30 goals plus in one European season.

Theo Bongonda gave Genk the lead in the 20th minute after receiving a pass from Junya Ito, but the hosts replied with two goals from Maxime Le Marchand and Koji Miyoshi in the second half.

Theo Bongonda later set Onuachu up for the equalizer in 7 3rd minute, before scoring the winner himself two minutes from time.

The win saw Genk move to second on 31 points, seven points away from leaders Club Brugge, in the four-team championship play-off.

The championship playoff is used to determine teams that will participate in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
