What next?

The EFL confirmed that clubs in League One and League Two will now “meet by division” to “formally determine” whether or not to end the season.

If clubs in League One choose to end their season early, this is how the table will finish:

  • Promoted: Coventry City (champions), Rotherham United
  • Play-offs: Wycombe Wanderers v Fleetwood Town, Oxford United v Portsmouth – dates tbc
  • Relegated: Tranmere Rovers, Southend United, Bolton Wanderers

If, as they indicated in May, teams in League Two formally end their season on Tuesday this is how the table will finish:

  • Promoted: Swindon Town (champions), Crewe Alexandra, Plymouth Argyle
  • Play-offs: Cheltenham Town v Northampton Town, Exeter City v Colchester United – dates tbc
  • Relegated: Stevenage

However, Stevenage could yet be reprieved after second-from-bottom Macclesfield Town were handed a fresh EFL misconduct charge on 1 June.

Macclesfield are three points ahead of bottom side Stevenage, who have a game in hand.

The Silkmen have already had 11 points deducted for previous rule breaches this season and have a further suspended two-point penalty hanging over them if they transgress again.
