Odion Ighalo failed to rescue his club Al Shabab from the away defeat to Al Ittihad in the Saudi Premier League on Wednesday.

Ighalo was named in the starting eleven, but failed to get on the scoresheet to save his team from going down 2-1 at the King Abdul Aziz stadium.

Saudi Arabia national team striker Abdulrahman Al-Aboud scored the first  goal of the game for the home side after twelve minutes of play.

With two minutes remaining in the first half, Brazilian star Sebastião de Freitas Couto Júnior restored parity for the visitors.

Fahad Al-Muwallad scored the winner for the home side in the 82nd minute after Al Shabab defender committed a foul in the box.

Ighalo was substituted in the 31st of the match for Turki Al-Ammar, due to injury concern.

The defeat was inconsequential as Al Shabab are still on top of the table with 45 points from 23 matches, while Al-Ittihad remain third with 41 points.
