Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun scored his first goal in the UEFA competition when he found the back of the net against visiting Broendby at the Ibrox on Thursday.

The Nigerian international played an important role as the Gers zoomed to a 2-0 victory in the Group A encounter of the Europa League on Thursday.

Rangers went into the match with zero points from the two previous games and only a win will keep them in the competition.

However, Balogun rose to the occasion and gave his side hope when he broke the deadlock on the 19th minute.

The 33-year-old attacked James Tavernier’s cross and his thumping header beat the goalkeeper.

It went from good to bad for the defender as he picked up an injury and was substituted on 64 minutes.

He was replaced by compatriot Calvin Bassey, who recently received his maiden call-up to the Super Eagles earlier this month.

Kemar Roofe got the second goal for the Gers on the 30th minute of play.

Meanwhile, Joe Aribo was also in action for the Scottish champions who recorded their first victory in the group.

The three points lift them to third place in the group and kept their hope of qualifying for the next round alive.
