Cristiano Ronaldo may have already played his final match in the UEFA Champions League and defeat to Turkey on Thursday would see him miss out on the chance to appear at his fifth FIFA World Cup.

Portugal ended their qualification group with a draw with Ireland and defeat to Serbia to fall into the play-offs.

Turkey finished qualification with three straight wins to finish second in their group behind the Netherlands.

This is the first competitive meeting between the two sides since Euro 2008 when Portugal ran out 2-0 winners. Pepe, Joao Moutinho and Ronaldo started for Portugal that day and Rui Patricio was on the bench.

Portugal have experience on their side when comparing the two squads and in Ronaldo they of course have a difference-maker. They are favourites but it might not be straightforward.
